Where's Marty? At The Loft in Brewers Hill taking a cold plunge
Hi Everyone!
In North Brewers Hill, in an old repurposed garment factory is a salon called "The Loft."
On the first floor of "The Loft" is a, (as the website say's), "a contrast therapy & wellness studio." It's called "Saunafit." And part of the "Saunafit" program is going from a very hot sauna, seen on the left, directly into a tub of spotlessly clear very cold water, seen on the right.
This weeks wellness Wednesday was all about cold water immersion. That tub is about 50 degrees. Or to put it another way, about 48 degrees below your standard core body temperature.
To say the least, it will get your attention as you step in.
After a couple of minutes, you exit the tub and the feeling is very invigorating.
No question there is an endorphin release going on.
For years, the Nordic countries have been hot on, (no pun intended), going from a hot sauna to very cold water. And for decades, doctors have studied and reported on the benefits of this practice.
At "Saunafit" you can do the sauna, or the tub, or both. (If both one way is to get super hot in the sauna, then into the cold tub to cool down, or the other way around.)
Weekly, about 50 folks have been booking the sauna/tub service, and on this Valentines Day, five couples have reservations. And notice the sauna LED light for this day of love. Nice. To book for yourself, head to their website https://www.browlashskin-theloft.com/saunafit
But before I finish this day, a backstory to the selfie of K2, and I, that traditionally ends this blog.
After we were done with "WM?" about 10, and I was dressed and warming up, K2 is taking the shot and I say, "If you do not try that cold immersion you have no brass!!!" His looks can be priceless!
Marty B!
