Where's Marty? Learning about the leap year at Johns Hopkins University
Hi Everyone!
Every four years we have an extra day added to the calendar, called a leap year, and a leap day.
So today, we headed over to Johns Hopkins University (It does not get a whole lot more academically credible than that) to speak with two folks whose expertise made them perfect to discuss why we make this adjustment, with you.
Meet Dr. Meredith MacGregor and Dr. Kevin Lewis.
She completed her PhD in Astrophysics at Harvard in 2017, and works on the James Webb Space Telescope. He researches planetary geophysics and is one of the "drivers" of the Mars Rover "Curiosity." I mean could we have two better people to discuss the subject with? And I will add really cool and relaxed people!
I want you to watch the videos and listen to the pros talk about the leap year, day, and especially leap second. (That one will be the last segment!) In a nutshell, we adjust the calendar to keep us sane.
