WEATHER BLOG: Storm Moves Out, Leaves Ice Behind
Our latest storm system is finally moving out of the region and taking its precipitation with it, but leaving behind icy roadways, bridges, sidewalks, power lines and trees.
Highs Wednesday are expected to climb into the low/mid 40s, and we are already above freezing right now. A lot of the ice that accumulated overnight and Wednesday morning will melt, but a refreeze is expected again Wednesday night with low temps forecast in the mid 20s.
Expect slick spots and black ice during the morning commute on Thursday.
High pressure will continue to filter in overnight allowing for plenty of sunshine Thursday. Highs Thursday will only make it into the mid 30s. We are carefully watching the potential for another winter storm this weekend that could bring some accumulating snow. Models are trending toward a less significant storm, at least for us in central Maryland, but it is still too early to tell exactly how things will unfold.
