Warrants Obtained For Edgewood Man Shot By Deputy

EDGEWOOD, Md. (AP) -- The Harford County Sheriff's Office says warrants have been obtained against a man who was shot by a deputy after allegedly turning on the deputy with a machete.

Brian Ogle, 26, of Edgewood is hospitalized at Shock Trauma in Baltimore. Deputies obtained warrants on Thursday charging Ogle with assault on a police officer and other offenses.

Deputies and paramedics went to an Edgewood home Wednesday night.

The sheriff's office says deputies spotted a man with a machete in front of the home and followed him into the woods. When the man approached one deputy, refusing to drop the knife, the sheriff's office says the deputy fired, striking the man several times.

Authorities identified the deputy as 34-year-old Deputy First Class Bryan Walker, a seven-year veteran.
