Victim ID'ed In Thanksgiving Day Columbia Shooting

COLUMBIA (WJZ) -- Howard County police have identified the victim in the Thanksgiving Day shooting at a Columbia, Md. apartment complex.

Elijah Walter Jackson, 29, of Columbia is in stable condition at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center after he was shot Thursday afternoon in an apartment in the 5800 block of Stevens Forest Road around 12:30 p.m.

According to police, a woman in the apartment heard a knock at the door and when she answered a man wearing a mask and carrying a gun barged in and began shooting.

Jackson was shot several times, then the suspect fled.

Police responded to the scene and stopped a vehicle leaving the scene. The vehicle was being operated by a resident of the apartment. The passenger, Brandon Leonard Marine, 29, of Catonsville, was found to have a minor injury on his hand. He was transported to an area hospital, treated and released.

At this time police do not have a suspect identified, but based on a preliminary investigation police do not believe the shooting was a random act.
