Utility Settles Suit Stemming From Child's Death
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Baltimore Gas and Electric says it has settled a lawsuit that faulted the company's gas lines for causing an explosion in an East Baltimore rowhouse that killed an 8-year-old-boy.
The company and a lawyer for the boy's family told local media partners that the terms of the settlement are confidential.
Troy Douglas was walking home from school in February when he was killed by falling debris from the explosion.
Investigators concluded the explosion and fire were caused by natural gas coming in contact with an ignition source in the home's basement.
Two people in the home and another boy who was walking home from school were also injured.
