UMd. Event Highlights Infectious Disease Research

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Some of the nation's leading infectious-disease fighters are speaking at an event in Baltimore highlighting efforts to stop the spread of Ebola and AIDS.

Friday's Festival of Science at the University of Maryland Medical School in Baltimore features Dr. Anthony Fauci (FOW'-chee), director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health.

Other speakers include Dr. Robert Gallo, director of the school's Institute of Human Virology, and Professor Myron Levine, director of the school's Center for Vaccine Development.

The festival offers presentations showcasing innovative work by the school's scientists.
