Trimble Earns AP All-American Distinction

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (WJZ) -- Maryland sophomore guard Melo Trimble was recognized as an Associated Press All-American Honorable Mention selection on Wednesday.

The accolade comes after Trimble, a two-time All-Big Ten selection, led the Terps in scoring (14.8 ppg), assists (176), free throw percentage (.868) and steals (44).

The guard was second in the B1G in free throw percentage, fifth in assists, tied for fourth in steals and 16th in scoring. He was also named to the national ballot for the Wooden Award earlier this month.

Trimble is only the second player in Terrapin history to score 500 or more points in each of his first two seasons, joining former Naismith Player of the Year Joe Smith.
