#Trending In Entertainment: George Clooney For Governor, Casey Kasem Passes Away And Kanye's Rant

This week one of Hollywood’s most dashing men may have a new gig (hint: it’s not in entertainment), a legend passes away, and hip-hop’s biggest bad boy wants to redesign the Internet.

1. George Clooney For Governor!

First an Academy Award and now a political title?  If his friends are right, George Clooney,53, could be California’s newest governor.  Sources close to the star told British tabloid paper The Daily Mirror that Clooney is currently being courted by the Democratic Party to run in 2016 for governor of California.

Clooney is known for supporting the Democrat party, notably rallying for President Obama during his 2012 presidential run.  This, in addition to his engagement to human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddun, could make Clooney the right candidate for the state, according to his friends.

2. Radio Legend Casey Kasem Passes Away

Following the deaths of Maya Angelou and Ruby Dee, another legend that shaped media has passed away.  Radio icon Casey Kasem passed away Sunday morning in Gig Harbor, Washington following a decline in his health and a public family feud over his care and treatment.

Kasem was known for hosting several successful coast-to-coast radio shows including “American Top 40,” “American Top 20″ and “American Top 10.”  He also famously voiced the character of Shaggy on the classic cartoon “Scooby-Doo.”

3. Kanye Calls The Internet F----ing Ugly, Wants To Redesign Instagram

Kanye West has always been very vocal about his opinions on everything from pop culture to social class, but this time West’s opinions take on something bigger: the Internet. During his surprise Cannes seminar “Technology, Culture, and Consumer Adoption: Learning to Read the Cultural Landscape,” West  spoke on the design of the Internet, calling it “f-ing ugly” as well as calling out the social media app Instagram.

"The world as a whole is f---ing ugly," he claimed. "The Internet as a whole is f---ing ugly, too. But I'm not in the construction business. I said to Kevin [Systrom, co-founder of Instagram], why don't you let us redo Instagram? Now, you know, Instagram is nice. It's nice-looking. I'm not knocking it. But just in general, everyone spends all of their time looking at their screens or their phones. And just as a simple task, we could clean that up."

4. Aaliyah Biopic Has Found Its Star

The upcoming Lifetime biopic of singer Aaliyah's life has found a star in 17-year-old Zendaya Coleman.  This week the Disney star was announced to play the late R&B singer in the made-for-TV film based on the book "Aaliyah: More Than a Woman" by former Time magazine music editor Christopher Farley. Killed in a 2001 plane crash at age 22, Aaliyah was just beginning to break into film when she passed away.

In her words on Twitter, Zendaya stated, “She's been an inspiration and influence in my whole career, her talent still shines brighter (than) ever, all I wanna do is honor her."

5. Kelly Clarkson Gives Birth To A Baby Girl

America’s favorite idol gave birth to a baby girl this week.  Kelly Clarkson, 32, announced Saturday via Twitter that she’d given birth to a girl, named River Rose Blackstock.

“Our baby girl River Rose Blackstock arrived on June 12! Thank you everyone for all of your well wishes! Brandon and I are on cloud 9!!” she tweeted about her first child.  The “American Idol” singer wed hubby Brandon Blackstock last year in 2013.
