Tim Benz Of WEEI Boston Takes A Look At Ravens Vs Patriots
Tim Benz, Mid-Day host for WEEI in Boston joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn and Femi Ayanbadejo to recap the Wild Card round of the playoffs and take a look at the match-up between the Ravens and Patriots on Saturday night. First thing Scott asked is what Tim saw from the Ravens in their win over the Steelers. "I was actually back in Pittsburgh for the game and the Ravens locker room is bizarre world for me, I ended up going to the game and covering the game in the Ravens locker room, but Joe Flacco just continues to do it in Pittsburgh and against the Steelers and it used to be the other way around for a long time, and that's been part of the narrative in Pittsburgh how much its switched and how Flacco has carved his good reputation with his play against the Steelers in Pittsburgh as opposed to the other way around for many years. Then coming back to Boston and doing the show today, I think the general tone has been is that this is not the match-up that Patriots fans wanted to see but they still think the Patriots are going to win."
Femi acknowledged a friend of his that lives in Boston and how she as a Patriots fan did not want to see the Ravens in the NFL Playoffs. Tim thinks the town as a whole though is still pretty confident in beating the Ravens. "I happen to think that if the Patriots do beat Baltimore it's only going to be by about a field goal, then whichever team they play between Denver and Indianapolis, I think New England will have an easier time against that team than they will against the Ravens. The word on the street and the vibe of the town is well they made mincemeat of the Broncos. They went to Indianapolis and smacked them around in the second half. They crushed Cincinnati earlier in the year. The only teams that came in that there wasn't a ton of confidence against when the playoff tree came out from Patriots fans were Pittsburgh and Baltimore."
