Three $1M Powerball Tickets Sold In Maryland

BALTIMORE WJZ)—At least three people are a million dollars richer after hitting the massive Powerball jackpot on Wednesday night.

Lottery official say winning tickets were sold California, Florida and Tennessee, but don't be disappointed, there were some big winners in Maryland as well.

Ava-joye Burnett has more on the local winners.

A Wawa off Urbana Pike in Frederick can now be considered a lucky store after someone who bought a Powerball ticket and won a million bucks.

Officials say two other stores in the state also sold million dollar tickets.

The identify of the Frederick winner is still unknown but the general manager at the Wawa says a woman came in Thursday morning to check her ticket.

"She was in here with what appeared to be a relative most likely her mother she was just kind of stunned dazed didn't have a whole lot to say," said Derek Molney, General Manager of the Frederick Wawa. "She just wanted to check her ticket and we obviously had a whole lot of people checking tickets this morning, so I kind of said jokingly, 'is it the big one,' and she said, 'I think so, I think I got all five numbers.' She was kind of excited, from her facial expressions she didn't have a whole lot to say. She was pretty much in awe," Molney said.

The other million dollar tickets were sold in Capitol Heights and Bladensburg.

Maryland also had 24 $50,000 and a $100,000 after last night's drawing.
