The Norris & Long Show Best Of - Week Of May 6th

This week's edition of the Norris & Long Show best Of includes interviews with Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer on the Browns draft, former late night television show host Arsenio Hall, and Rob Carlin on the Capitals making their way out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs early yet again.

MARY KAY CABOT

Mary Kay Cabot, beat reporter for the Cleveland Plain Dealer covering the Cleveland Browns, joined Ed and Rob to review the Browns selections in the 2017 NFL Draft and how they could change the outlook of that franchise.

The Browns selected DE Myles Garrett out of Texas A&M with the No. 1 overall pick and Mary Kay believes Browns fans liked it saying, "I think people here are really excited, they got Myles Garrett and that was the guy everyone wanted...I do think fans would've liked if they could've picked up Mitchell Trubisky also, but fans are really happy with Myles and getting another first round pick for next year."

With one of their other first round picks the Browns took Jabrill Peppers defensive back out of Michigan and Mary Kay described the outlook for his rookie season saying, "the plan is to play him at safety but he go do so many things because he is versatile so early on he may play some special teams but the plan is to pencil him in at safety."

Mary Kay also talked about David Njoku another first round pick at the tight end position and the skill set he brings to the NFL, and another possible quarterback for the Browns future in Notre Dame's Deshone Kizer whom the Browns drafted in the 2nd round. The Ravens won't have to wait long to see all these new Browns rookies, Cleveland comes to M&T Bank Stadium in week two of the regular season.

ARSENIO HALL

Arsenio Hall, former late night television talk show host and stand-up comedian who has been in movies like "Coming To America" and "Harlem Nights," joined Ed and Rob to talk about his upcoming shows in the Baltimore area and what he's been up to lately.

Hall started by talking about which movie he liked making more, "Coming To America" or "Harlem Nights?" He said, "it's funny you would ask me that, any other day I would say 'Coming To America,' but I'm still missing Charlie Murphy, we lost Charlie recently...I actually got to work with him on 'Harlem Nights' and we had a ball because we were working with our heroes."

When asked about what is going on in his career lately Arsenio said, "I'm doing a little bit of everything, check out Sandy Wexler on Netflix I got to work with Adam Sandler. He's like Sara Lee, everybody wants to work with Adam...I'm doing some other things including TV and there's talk about approaching 'Coming To America' again to do a reboot or a sequel nothing has been signed yet."

You can see Arsenio Hall at the Baltimore Comedy Factory this weekend. He has two shows scheduled for Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6.

ROB CARLIN

Rob Carlin, analyst for Comcast Sportsnet Mid-Atlantic who hosts the pre and post game shows for the Washington Capitals game broadcasts, joined Ed and Rob to talk about the Capitals once again coming up short in a playoff series against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Rob started by talking about another slow start from the Capitals and Pittsburgh taking advantage saying "they came out with no sense of urgency, for the life of me I can;t figure out why you come out with Karl Alzner and Brooks Orpik on the ice at the same time but that's what they did and Pittsburgh burned them...they carried the play and still lost, the Penguins had two shots in the second period and scored on both of them with one of them going off of Dmitry Orlov's foot."

When asked about Alex Ovechkin and his legacy if he never wins a Stanley Cup Rob said "Brett Hull and Steve Yzerman those guys didn't win Cups until their careers were almost over, so you can't write his legacy until it's completely over...right now he is the guy who won all the scoring titles and is a great regular season player but he can't get it done in the playoffs."

The Caps season will be on the line on Saturday night when they host the Penguins at the Verizon Center in game 5 of their Eastern Conference Semifinal series.
