The Norris & Davis Show Best Of - Week Of June 18th

This week's edition of The Norris & Davis Show Best Of includes an interview with Dan Shaughnessy of the Boston Globe ahead of the Orioles vs Red Sox series, and an interview with Golf Digest Senior Writer Ron Sirak ahead of the U.S. Open.

DAN SHAUGHNESSY

Dan started by talking about if he is surprised these two teams are sitting atop the AL East saying "Baltimore surprises me a little bit...I just think coming out of the spring I was worried about the Orioles pitching but you have a great manager and a great bullpen I'm happy to see it." As for David Price and how he's viewed in Boston this season Dan said "he hasn't been electric or had those Pedro moments...he kind of bottomed out in New York about seven starts ago, he's pitched better his last six starts or so."

Dan was asked about the season David Ortiz is having and the whispers of possible PED use and said "my reaction is the same as your reaction, the reaction here is wow Big Papi is doing it again...I agree with everything being said, the only comparable is Barry Bonds." As for how he feels about Ortiz and PED use in baseball Dan said "I've had my go at it, I'll let the national people go at it...what he's doing is unbelievable."

Dan also talked about Ubaldo Jimenez's up and down performances this season and what the Orioles can possibly do in the situation.

RON SIRAK

Ron started by talking about what the players will be complaining about during this year's U.S. Open saying "well the greens are going to be fast, but probably the thing you'll hear the players talk about the most is there is more rough here than usual it's going to be really thick and gnarly." Ron talked about how even though players will complain the course favors great golfers saying "Oakmont never produces a bad champion, we've had eight previous champions here six of the eight winners at Oakmont are in the world golf Hall Of Fame."

As for Rory McIlroy, who Ron thinks this course could favor, Ron talked about how special of a player he is saying "in the Tiger era only Phil Mickelson has five majors, and Rory is right there he's won as many as anyone during the Tiger era."

Ron also talked about how the weather could mess up this course by slowing down the greens and making the rough even tougher to play through.
