Suspected Drunk Driver Fails To Stop, Leads Police On Short Chase

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) -- A police pursuit ends with a fiery crash in Anne Arundel County Tuesday evening.

Officers gave chase after police say a suspected drunk driver failed to stop at a DUI checkpoint along Route 50 in Annapolis just after 8:30 p.m.

The 34-year-old driver Marvis Montrell Pollock  almost struck the checkpoint, police said, and when officers tried to pull him over he sped away.

He eventually crashed into three vehicles near the Navy-Marine Corps Stadium on Rowe Boulevard.

Police say his vehicle then burst into flames.

Four occupants were inside the vehicles struck of which three people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Pollock was found without a license and under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance.

He was charged with four counts of assault, driving while impaired, fleeing and eluding by motor vehicle and numerous other charges.
