Surveillance Photos Released In Federal Hill Stabbing
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- It's been seven weeks since a young man nearly lost his life after being stabbed in Federal Hill.
Now, as Mike Schuh reports, there are new photos of what happened.
Salvatore Schittino is now out of hospital. It's a miracle he ever made it this far because he was stabbed, twice in the heart.
It happened in the heart of Federal Hill near Light Street on Aug. 19, south of the market.
"They weren't out to hurt him. They were out to kill him. I'm scared, and the whole community should be scared that these guys… maybe next time they'll succeed," his father, Sal Schittino, Sr., told WJZ in August.
The new surveillance pictures of the thugs, though lacking in detail, police hope will jog someone's memory of the early morning of Aug, 19 around 4 a.m. when four young men on moped attacked Sal Schittino.
"Someone yelled get off of him and when someone yelled get off of him, they jumped on their mopeds and took off," Schittino Sr. said.
After what happened here, Schittino is home recuperating. He's in rehab and has scars running the length of his chest from open heart surgery.
Now he wants someone behind bars.
"He's going to be fine. He was lucky," Schittino, Sr. said. "He's going to make a 100 percent recovery, but I think of someone else who may not be as lucky."
So take a look at the photos. They may not be as clear, but the suspects' actions did not just affect one family, but an entire neighborhood.
Police have not identified any suspects in the case and are offering a reward of $7,000 for information leading to an arrest.
Anyone with information should call the Metro Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-866-7 LOCKUP.
