Students In D.C., Md. Suburbs Walk Out Of Class En Masse

BALTIMORE (WJZ/AP) -- A week after Donald Trump was elected as America's next president, students have taken to the streets yet again in the nation's capital and in the D.C. suburbs in Maryland.

Students at High Point High School in Beltsville walked out of class and, for a time, blocked Powder Mill Road.

D.C. students from multiple schools left their classrooms and walked first to a Trump's newly opened hotel at the Old Post Office Building on Pennsylvania Avenue and then toward the U.S. Capitol and the Supreme Court.

They carried signs that read "Black Lives Matter" and "Not My President." Another signs says "DCPS Walkout Help Stop Trump." DCPS stands for District of Columbia public schools.

A flyer for the DCPS walkout circulating on Twitter said it was meant to be "a peaceful and positive demonstration meant to send one message to our future president: he can't divide us."
