Steve Davis: Put Yourself In Kim's Shoes
It has been a terrible start for Hyun Soo Kim so far at spring training. However, I think people need to calm down on their dire predictions that maybe he doesn't belong. Can you imagine going to a foreign country and needing to have an interpreter help you with every single conversation you have with a coach, player, hotel attendant, waiter, fan, etc.?
Then, you are trying to get accustomed to an entirely different kind of game preparation than in South Korea. After that, you are facing pitchers you have never faced before and know nothing about. You are learning drills and methods that were different than in South Korea. Oh yeah, the competition is better too. It's a daunting challenge for anyone. Give the man some time to get acclimated. He's under a tremendous amount of pressure, and people need to cut him some slack.
If necessary, there will be plenty of time to panic in a couple of weeks. Just kidding.
