Steve Davis: Outlook for Ravens Looks Very Good
Ok, I am guilty of looking ahead on the calendar, and glancing at the Ravens schedule has me feeling very confident.
After what happened this weekend in the NFL, there is not a single game that scares me. They're back on the road in Cincinnati on Sunday. Since starting 3-0, the Bengals are 0-2-1 in their last 3. They have given up 107 points in their last 3 games, after giving up 33 in their first 3 games. Their offense punted a team record 11 times vs. Indy, including 10 three and outs.
Next up is Pittsburgh. After you get past the whole, rivalry games are always tough deal, the Steelers are very beatable.
The only other worrisome road game is New Orleans, and the Saints are 2-4, and don't look very impressive. The Ravens have home games vs. 2 really bad teams, Tennessee and Jacksonville.
San Diego doesn't look as formidable now, after losing at home to KC 23-20. Sure, the Chargers are good, but it is a home game for the Ravens.
Road games in Miami and Houston certainly look winnable.
They wrap up at home vs. Cleveland. The Browns just humiliated themselves by getting spanked by the lowly Jaguars.
Will the Ravens run the table and finish 14-2? Probably not. They will probably have a hiccup or two. But, if the Ravens don't suffer any more significant injuries, I can easily see them finishing 12-4, winning the division and getting a bye.
