State Police Arrest Man After Barricading Himself
STEVENSVILLE, Md. (WJZ) -- Maryland State Police have successfully arrested a man after he refused to come out of a residence he was attempting to burglarize in Queen Anne's County.
Brandon Borradaile, 25, of Ocean City had a nine hour standoff with police after he attempted to burglarize the 900 block of Bayside Drive in Stevensville.
Around 6:30 a.m. on Dec. 22, troopers responded to Bayside Drive after a neighbor reported suspicious activity in the residence. According to police, the caller said there was an unfamiliar vehicle in the driveway and a suspicious man walking around the house.
Troopers arrived on scene and observed broken glass in the sliding glass door in the back of the house, indicating a possible break in to the home.
Troopers gave commands for Borradaile to exit the home. He refused to cooperate and instead barricaded himself inside the house.
Shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 22, State Police's Special Tactical Assault Team Element entered the residence and arrested Borradaile. He was the only person found inside. There were no injuries.
Troopers have identified the blue Toyota Avalon in the driveway as a stolen vehicle, reported stolen from a burglary in Ocean City of another unoccupied home.
Borradaile has been charged with first and third-degree burglary and malicious destruction of property.
