Springsteen Is Back! Business Booming For 'The Boss' In Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The Boss is back in Baltimore. Bruce Springsteen and the E-Street Band are performing at the Royal Farms Arena. The concert is a boom for business in the city.

WJZ's Marcus Washington with more on how this show has created a trickle-down effect for Baltimore's economy.

The tour trucks are being unloaded for Bruce Springsteen--the latest of some of the biggest names in music to take to the Royal Farms Arena stage within the past year.

"It's huge. You get that one big artist, and then other artists start to pay attention," said Frank Remesch, general manager, Royal Farms Arena. "When they support the acts, I get more shows. When I get more shows, they support them. It's a good domino effect."

On the calendar above Remesch's desk, you can see the who's who of music coming or recently performed at the arena.

For the thousands of fans going to Wednesday night's concert, many of them will want to find something to do before or after the concert, and that often involves food or drinks.

"I spoke with a guest on the phone yesterday who's coming down from Philly, said the last time he came to Baltimore was for the last time Springsteen played here," said James Williams, B&O American Brasserie.

Williams says the B&O American Brasserie has been booked for the night since last week.

"It's more of a flow than a trickle. It's absolutely huge for us. Every time there's a big headlining act over at Royal Farms Arena, we definitely benefit tremendously from it," said Williams.

When it comes to big name artists, you can't underestimate the impact of a concert for a city.

"Restaurants filling up, the hotels are filling up, that leads to more taxes for the good of the city. It also leads to people just having a good time and having a better feeling about their city," said Kirby Fowler, president, Downtown Partnership.

The concert begins at 7 p.m.
