'Southwest: The Magazine' Includes 24-Page Feature On Baltimore
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- "Southwest: The Magazine" will include a 24-page feature on Baltimore in its next issue.
Despite some serious image issues Baltimore has been facing, millions will soon see the best of Baltimore, mid-flight.
The write-up, which will be featured in the magazine released February 1, will take an in-depth look at Charm City.
"People looking for opportunity should look at Baltimore," said Southwest Magazine writer Jay Heinrichs.
It's a love story for the article's author. Heinrichs canceled his anniversary trip to Rome so he and his wife could come back to Charm City.
"Baltimore's that kind of place that people will be nostalgic for some day, so the whole premise of this story was get in while you can. Now's the time," he said.
The Charmery, Light City, R. House food hall in Remington and the Washington Monument are some of the local spots on the list.
"It makes me really happy to think that someone who maybe has never been to Baltimore is going to open it up and see this incredible spread, and learn a lot more about our city, and it might pique their interest," said Megan Isennok of the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore.
Connie's Chicken and Waffles is also one of the local restaurants featured in the magazine.
"We're hoping that this magazine issue is really going to put Baltimore on the map, and makes that traveler or tourist on the plane say, 'Hey, I need to check out Baltimore. That's one place I haven't been yet,'" said Khari Parker of Connie's Chicken and Waffles.
BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport is one of Southwest's largest hubs.
