Volkswagen Jetta sought in deadly hit-and-run in Columbia

BALTIMORE – Police are looking for a vehicle of interest after a 32-year-old man was struck and killed Thursday morning in Columbia, authorities said.

Officers were called about 6 a.m. after a passerby found the man's body in the median on Snowden River Parkway near Oakland Mills Road, Howard County Police said.

The man was identified as 32-year-old Joseph Shawn Delberts of Columbia. Investigators believe he was riding his skateboard at the time of the hit-and-run collision.

Based on a preliminary investigation, police believe the vehicle involved was a Volkswagen Jetta from the model years 2015 through 2018 with front end damage.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for tips leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.
