Minor shot in hand which prompted lockouts at nearby Lansdowne schools

BALTIMORE - A minor was shot in his hand Monday afternoon, prompting three nearby Lansdowne schools to be placed on lockout status as police investigated.

Police said the minor, who is not a student at any of the schools, was shot in his hand, and is expected to survive.

The shooting happened around 2:40 p.m., just before school dismissal, in the area of Silerton Road.

The police investigation prompted Lansdowne Middle School, Lansdowne Elementary School and Lansdowne High School to be on lockout status.

The dismissal was delayed at the middle school and elementary school.

The schools were given an "all-clear" from the police department.

Police said a group of minors were taken into police custody as detectives work to confirm if they were involved in the shooting.
