Ryan Mink On Ravens Injuries, Position Competitions & More
Breshad Perriman is in, Matt Elam is out and Ryan Mink from BaltimoreRavens.com joined Norris and Long this morning to talk about a few more injuries and updates from the Ravens during preseason.
Coach Harbaugh has already called Pitta's injury "absurd," but Mink adds that there's definitely some frustration surrounding that situation. Mink said, "Yeah, absolutely I think there is a frustration. The guy has gone through so much to get back, two hip surgeries, it's been such a long road to recovery... and then a finger injury is going to set him aside after two hip surgeries, that's just a sad story. It turns out to be a break in the bone...and that's not good."
As the Ravens get ready for the third preseason game, the guys asked if anyone has jumped out at him as someone to watch.
Josh Johnson was the top pick. Mink said, "He's turned that backup quarterback competition, into a competition. I think we all assumed Ryan Mallet was going to be the guy, and he probably still will be. But Josh Johnson is doing well enough to make you start to think is he deserving of the number two job?"
Another piece to the puzzle of the Ravens getting back into shape, fell into place when Eric Weddle arrived. Mink said, "He's an impeccable leader. He's exactly what the Ravens needed back there. I think he's going to have a ripple effect."
