Ryan Mallett is getting another chance in the NFL as a backup quarterback to the Ravens' backup quarterback.

He was cut by the Texans after oversleeping and missing a flight, but will sign with the Ravens, according to Dianna Marie Russini of ESPN.

Mallett was drafted by the Patriots in the third-round in 2011 and started six games in Houston over the last two years. He has a strong arm, but hasn't shown much growth as a passer during his NFL career.

On Sunday, Jimmy Clausen started for the Ravens and Bryn Renner backed him up. The Ravens want to have Mallett on the roster in case of an emergency.

Joe Flacco is out for the season with a torn ACL, and second-string quarterback Matt Schaub missed Sunday's game as well.
