Rowdy Gaines Says Michael Phelps Is Back And Back In A Big Way
Rowdy Gaines is a three time Olympic Gold Medalist swimmer for the United States.
Rowdy joined Ken and Steve to talk about Michael Phelps recent results and prospects for Rio next summer.
Steve asked Rowdy about what we should make of the resurgence of Michael Phelps after his recent performance at the U.S. Nationals in San Antonio. Rowdy says "we should say that Michael is back, and back in a big way. There's a reason why he's the greatest swimmer ever."
Ken asked Rowdy how surprised he is that Michael is at this level again. Rowdy isn't very surprised given Phelps' greatness in the pool saying, "the sport has changed so much compared to when I swam, in other sports when you hit 30 you're in your prime, there's no reason it can't be that way in swimming."
Rowdy went on to discuss Phelps' rivalry with South African Chad le Clos, how many events we should expect to see Phelps compete in at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, and the emergence of another American swimming star Katie Ledecky, after her dominant performance at the World Championships.
