Rob Long: The Second Half Race

We call it the second half of the season but technically, the second half has already begun. As we look at the rest of the Baltimore Orioles schedule, it starts off rather tough. In fact, they are facing some of the most dangerous teams in baseball.

The Birds start off on the West Coast in Oakland having to face tough pitchers like Jeff Samardzija, Jason Hammel and Sonny Gray. This team has to stay to course, especially after the All-Star Break.

I've looked at the schedule of all of the American League East teams and broke down how I thought the five teams would finish the season. I looked at the teams series by series and not really game by game meaning I believe the O's will take one out of three in their first series after the break but I did not go as far as to trying to figure out what game that might be.

The Orioles have 21 series remaining in the 2014 season. That does not include the one make-up game against the Washington Nationals. In those 21 series I have them going 11-6-4, compiling a record of 37-31 after the break. That will give the team a 89-73 record. This is how both the American League East and the rest of Major League Baseball will finish according to me. An asterisk denotes playoff participants. I've only posted records for the A.L. East teams:
