Remains Of Missing N.J. Woman Discovered In Carroll Co.

CARROLL COUNTY, Md. (WJZ)--The remains of a missing New Jersey woman was discovered on Tuesday in Maryland.

Police say the remains of 26-year-old Erica Crippen, of Mount Laurel, was discovered underneath a pile of branches off of Old Frederick Road in Carroll County, Maryland. Crippen's body was discovered bound with a cord, duct tape across her face and wrapped in a fleece blanket, authorities said.

Police say the investigation began in January, after no one picked up Erica's 7-year-old daughter from school. Days later, Erica's husband, Kyle Crosby was charged with endangering the welfare of a child due to poor level of care he provide in the absence of his wife. Crosby told police he hadn't seen his wife since January 1.

Police say Crosby was taken into custody on January 12 following a routine traffic stop which led to the discovery of several items believed to be connected to his wife's disappearance. He was charged with Erica's murder the next day.

Police say that Crosby killed his wife in the morning hours of December 31, in Burlington County, New Jersey. Further investigation revealed Crosby traveled to Maryland sometime before his arrest to dump his wife's body.

Crosby remains in Burlington County jail on $1.2 million bail.

Jo Crosby, 67, Kyle's mother, has also been charged with helping her son conceal the death of his wife. She was released after posting 10% of her $12,500 bail.

An autopsy is being performed to determine the exact cause of death.
