Recording Device Found Inside Towson University's Women's Locker Room

TOWSON, Md. (WJZ) --An investigation is underway at Towson University after a recording device was found inside the school's locker room.

Officials at Towson addressed the incident in a statement saying they were contacted on Friday morning regarding a cell phone found in the swimming and diving team's locker room.

"It was reported that team members had found a smart phone inside the team's Burdick Pool locker room that may have captured video images and audio recordings of the student-athletes from inside the locker room," the statement said.

Immediately after receiving the information, Towson University Police were contacted and are continuing to investigate this incident.

University officials have offered resources, support and counseling to members  of the women's swimming team.

A parent of a team member tells our media partner The Baltimore Sun that they viewed an eight-minute video after finding the phone. The parent says that Towson's athletic director Tom Leonard  held a meeting with the athletes on Friday afternoon and said that personnel action had been taken.
