Ravens Sign Former Colt Justin Houston
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- There was reason for Ravens fans to cheer even before the team hit the stadium Saturday night. It's official. Justin Houston is a Raven.
Houston is a 10-year veteran, one of the top pass rushers in the NFL. He reportedly turned down bigger contract offers from other teams to sign a one year with the Ravens because he sees Baltimore as a Super Bowl contender.
The Ravens pass rush is in need of a boost and they get it with a veteran acquisition.
"He's a proven player. I had a chance to talk to him a lot over the last couple months," said Head Coach John Harbaugh. "He wanted to be here for months. For it to work out the way it did I compliment him, his agent & Eric (DeCosta) for getting it done."
"We got better. That's how I take it. It's an opportunity for me to learn from a guy that has 97 sacks," said rookie linebacker Odafe Oweh. "That's always great. I'm learning from Calais every day now you added another guy that has a history of getting to the quarterback and I can use help."
Justin Houston must go through the NFL mandatory intake protocol for Covid screening and it will be at least 5 days before he's eligible to practice with the Ravens.
