Ravens kicker Justin Tucker still confident after two missed field goals in loss to Pittsburgh

BALTIMORE -- Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker left six points off the scoreboard during Sunday's crucial AFC North clash with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The most accurate kicker in NFL history hooked two field goals to the left in the Ravens' 18-16 loss in the battle between the division's top two teams.

"It's certainly frustrating, especially when we know that these [Ravens-Steelers] games come down to the wire, like this one did today, that I let a couple get away," Tucker said. "But, like I've said before, the only thing that we can do is just get right back to work and focus on making the most out of our next opportunity."

If Tucker, in his 13th season in Baltimore, made one of those field goals, the outcome would have been different.

Tucker missed a 47-yard field goal and a 50-yard field goal, both in the first quarter. However, he made a 54-yard field goal in the third quarter.

"Tuck needs to make kicks, he knows that," Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said. "That's important. He makes them in practice, and he made the long one later, which is good to see and means he is very capable of it. Kick them straight and we will be good."

Tucker entered this season with an NFL-best 89.7% field goal average. This season, he's made 16 of 22 of his field goal attempts (72.7%). He's also 3 of 7 on kicks 50 yards or longer.

According to CBS Sports, all of Tucker's misses this season have sailed left.

With six more games, one more miss would tie his career-high in a season. Tucker missed seven field goals (33-for-40) in 2015, six field goals (37-for-43) in 2022 and five (32-for-37) in 2023.

"I'm still confident I'm going to go out there and nail every single kick," Tucker said. "Part of the way we stay confident is by continuing to work and trust the process. I might sound like a broken record, but it's a part of what brings us success, is just trusting the process and then taking it one kick at a time."

Steelers kicker Chris Boswell, who made six field goals against Baltimore on Sunday, said he hasn't given up on the "legend."

"No, not even close," Boswell said. "That dude's a legend. He's a Hall of Famer. Next thing you know, he'll go on another 100 field goal streak and everyone will forget about this and move past this."

The Ravens (7-4), second in the AFC North, travel to the Los Angeles Chargers for Monday Night Football on November 25.
