Ravens Fans Wait In Line For More Than An Hour To Exchange Ray Rice Jerseys

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Ravens fans turn out Friday to exchange their Ray Rice jerseys after the star running back was released from the team.

Rick Ritter has more on the exchange.

The line stretched on and on and on. Thousands waited to trade in their Ray Rice jerseys at M&T Bank Stadium.

"About an hour and 20 minutes," one fan said.

Rice was one of the team's most popular players. But after his domestic violence incident, some fans say they won't wear number 27 ever again.

"I have quite a few jerseys of his. So I wanted get something that I could wear and feel proud of," said Allison Morris, Ravens fan.

"As an adult, you have all these kids looking up to you. My feeling is, regardless, you need to watch what you do," said Steven Rostek, Ravens fan.

The Ravens are now exchanging Rice jerseys for other players.

Jerseys that are eligible for exchange must be officially licensed by the NFL and manufactured by Nike or Reebok. They have to be purchased--or available for purchase at the Ravens Team Store at M&T Bank Stadium or the Ravens Officials Team Store online.

After a long wait, some say it was slim pickings as far as what jerseys were available.

"Not the best situation after waiting an hour and half and they've still got all these people to go," said Bruce Supovitz, Ravens fan.

A second jersey exchange will be held at the stadium Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Exchanges must be made in person to verify that products are licensed. Recipients will receive Nike replica jerseys based on availability at the time of exchange. Exchange is limited to one jersey per person.

Fans should enter at Gate A2. They will be directed to the northwest concourse to make exchanges. The Team Store at Section 140 will also be open.

Fan parking is available in Lot B on the north side of M&T Bank Stadium.
