Police were called to the 10000 block of Dolfield Road around 6:48 a.m. when a passerby saw a black Chevrolet Corvette crashed into a tree.

Officers found the driver asleep at the wheel and identified him as 24-year-old Alexander Jamonte Collins.

Collins told police that he was not injured, but had fallen asleep at waiting for a towing service.

During initial contact with Collins, police smelled marijuana inside the vehicle.

A probable cause search revealed a large glass jar on the front passenger side floorboard that contained five ounces of marijuana, equivalent to 141.75 grams.

A handgun was also recovered from the front driver side floorboard.

Collins was placed under arrest at 7:35 a.m.
