DNA Leads To Man's Conviction In 2008 Maryland Rape Case
BALTIMORE (AP) — A man has been convicted of rape and false imprisonment in a 2008 Maryland cold case.
News outlets report Oliver Miller also was found guilty Thursday of crimes including sexual offense. A Baltimore City State's Attorney release says an unknown man followed a woman home one afternoon ten years ago and forced his way inside her residence.
Authorities say he repeatedly assaulted her at knifepoint and forced her to shower and drink alcohol. He then stole her debit card, tied her up and fled. The woman escaped, crawled out of a window and called police. The case grew cold until it was reopened in 2017 and DNA evidence pointed to Miller.
Miller faces up to 180 years in prison at his sentencing on July 20. It's unclear if he has a lawyer.
