Prosecutors: Man Uses Baby As Shield After 125 MPH Car Chase

LANCASTER, Pa. (AP) -- Prosecutors in Pennsylvania say a Delaware man led them on car chase at speeds of up to 125 mph with a 7-week-old baby in the backseat, whom he later used as a human shield.

The Lancaster County District Attorney's office says police tried to pull over 32-year-old Ronald Comeger Saturday after he was clocked driving his Volkswagen over 70 mph in a 55-mph zone.

They say he sped off, leading them on the 20-mile chase during which he tried to run over a trooper and then crashed into another car.

Comeger climbed into the back seat and used the baby as a human shield when troopers tried to arrest him.

The baby and his mother, who was a passenger, had cuts and bruises.

Comeger was charged Wednesday with attempted homicide and aggravated assault, among other charges. No lawyer information is available.
