Prayer Service Set For 17-Year-Old Killed In Weekend Crash

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A District of Columbia high school is holding a special prayer service Monday to remember a 17-year-old student killed in a car crash over the weekend.

The prayer service at Gonzaga College High School is in memory of Dominik Pettey, a senior hockey player known as Dom.

Pettey was in a car pulled over on the right shoulder of the Capital Beltway's inner loop early Saturday morning when a Jeep driven by a 24-year-old woman slammed into the car.

Pettey, of Potomac, Maryland, was killed. Four others who had been in the car with him and the driver of the Jeep survived.

Police say alcohol may have been a factor.

Monday's prayer service for Pettey is for students and staff only. Counselors will be available for grieving students.
