Police Searching for Suspect In Middle River Hit-And-Run Crash

BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (WJZ)--Hit by a car and left for dead. Police in Baltimore County are seeking the public's help in identifying a hit-and-run suspect.

New surveillance video shows the collision, and as of Wednesday night, the suspect is still on the loose.

A 55-year-old man laying helpless in the middle of the road, after a vehicle smashes into him.

"It's crazy, how could you do that to a human being? What if that was your mom or dad?" said Samantha Hewitt of Middle River.

On October 4, just after 1:00 a.m., police say a 55-year-old man tried to cross the street when a car hit him.

Surveillance video shows the impact as the car dragged him several yards, while the driver never stopped or turned around.

"This is a human being, that gentleman could of died," said Cpl. John Wachter of the Baltimore County Police.

Surveillance cameras at the storage facility captured the wild incident. Police say even though they now have video of the incident, it's still hard to get an exact description of the suspect's vehicle.

"It's a little difficult but what we're hoping is someone might take a look at it," said Wachter.

Samantha Hewitt walks the same road every day.

"It's hard to walk this street when things like this happen," said Hewitt.

Like police, she's hoping the driver turns himself in.

"How do you not have any heart to stop? I don't get it," said Hewitt.

Police say unfortunately they haven't had any leads just yet. No word on the exact condition of the victim, but we're told he's expected to be OK.

Anyone with information on this crash is asked to call police at 410-307-2020.
