Police Searching For Information After Body Found On Hammonds Ferry Road
LANSDOWNE, Md. (WJZ) -- A horrifying find in Baltimore County has police searching for answers. Detectives said they're investigating a homicide after a man's body was found with gunshot wounds off the side of a road last week in Lansdowne.
"It's crazy. This is actually a pretty good neighborhood, for the most part. So to hear something like that, it's, like, a tragedy," said Austin Burford, who works in the area.
Police responded to Hammonds Ferry Road at the Anne Arundel County line just after 11 a.m. Saturday after someone called in a report of a body lying on the side of the road.
"The body appeared to have been on the side in some brush," said Officer Danielle Moore, a Baltimore County Police Department spokeswoman.
Detectives later identified the man as 30-year-old Orlando Carranza-Portillo, who was found with gunshot wounds to his body.
As investigators look for answers, police are asking for the public's help.
"If someone knew his whereabouts prior to, maybe that could lead us to where or if it happened at a different location," Moore said.
This marks the 27th homicide in Baltimore County so far this year, according to police.
County residents are now calling for the violence to come to an end.
"The community needs to come together. If they see any illegal activity, they need to come together and report it," Burford said.
