Police: Rape Suspect Arrested on the Scene of the Assault
BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Baltimore Police say they arrested a rape suspect at the alleged scene of the crime early Thursday morning.
Officers arrested Eron Johnson, 40, after the alleged, female victim was seen by cops running, waving and screaming for help.
Around 2:40 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to the 400 block of Old Town Mall where they witnessed the victim yelling for help and the suspect fleeing the scene.
Officers spoke with the female and believed the crime just occurred. They then captured Johnson in the 400 block of Exeter Street.
Detectives learned the victim was walking in the 400 block of Old Town Mall when the suspect approached her and forced her into a vacant building at knifepoint and then proceeded to rape her.
The victim was taken to Mercy Hospital and the suspect was taken into custody and interviewed by police.
Officers also recovered a knife from Johnson's pants pocket.
Johnson was charged with first- and second-degree rape, first- and second-degree sex offense and first- and second-degree assault.
