Police Officer Charged With DUI After Crash; No Injuries

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say a Hagerstown police officer is charged with driving under the influence after his vehicle crossed the center line and hit another vehicle.

The Herald-Mail reports that Officer Terry Hose was charged after the collision Saturday afternoon on U.S. 40 near the rural community of Clear Spring.

Maryland State Police 1st Sgt. Kurt Dominick said Monday that neither Hose nor the woman driving the other vehicle was seriously hurt.

The Associated Press was unable to reach Hose or his lawyer for comment Tuesday. No defense attorney is listed in court records, and Hose didn't immediately return a telephone call.

Hagerstown police spokeswoman Heather Aleshire told the Herald-Mail the charge was a personnel matter and declined further comment. Aleshire didn't immediately return a call from the AP.
