Police: Off-Duty Officer Hit, Briefly Dragged By Car

CHEVY CHASE, Md. (AP) -- Montgomery County police say they are looking for the driver of a car that hit an off-duty officer, briefly dragging him.

Police say the officer was working a second job and was in full uniform.

Police spokesman Officer Rick Goodale says the off-duty officer tried to speak to the driver of an illegally parked car on Wisconsin Avenue in Chevy Chase just before 5 p.m. Tuesday.

That's when Goodale says the car took off, striking the officer and briefly dragged him.

Police say the driver fled the scene. Authorities say the officer, an 8-year veteran of the department, was treated for a concussion and released at a local hospital.
