City Police Search for Man Involved in Carjacking of 2 Young Children

BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- Baltimore City Police are searching for a man involved in a carjacking where two young children were involved Thursday evening and later found.

The whole thing played out in about in hour. WJZ has exclusive video of the car being taken.

Around 6 p.m., police say a woman was unloading items from her car in the unit block of North Port Street with the keys still in the ignition when an unknown man drove her car away with two young children inside.

"We had officers come to the area, we used our aviation unit, we called other units from across the city to help search for this vehicle and for the children," said Baltimore Police spokesman Jeremy Silbert.

The vehicle is a Gray 2007 Saturn Ion with Maryland tags "6CE3859."

The 4-year-old and the 19-month-old were both found a short time later at 7:05 p.m.

The suspect, who is still on the loose, is described as a white man, around 30 years old, wearing a gray sweatshirt with "NIKE" written in green.

Police say he was last seen traveling eastbound. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
