26-year-old woman found murdered in Mount Vernon apartment building

BALTIMORE -- A 26-year-old woman was found murdered at an apartment building Monday morning in Baltimore's Mount Vernon neighborhood.

Baltimore Police report that a call for service came in around 11:30 a.m. 

Officers went to an apartment building at 306 W. Franklin St. to investigate.

A woman was found dead with signs of blunt force trauma, the department said. 

Police said a preliminary investigation found a missing persons call had been made a short time before the discovery. 

Homicide detectives are working to notify the victim's family and therefore have not released her name. 

"That's pretty horrifying," said tenant Chris Mcnees, "I mean, just for that to happen anywhere in the city is obviously a bad thing but it's hard to imagine why this would happen specifically in this building."
