Police Investigate Bomb Threats At Banks, Grocery Store
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) -- Authorities are continuing to investigate threats made to businesses in Annapolis and Anne Arundel County on Saturday.
According to police, in each case an individual demands money over the phone and then threatens the use of a device.
The first incident happened around 10:42 a.m. at the SunTrust Bank located in the 100 block of Main Street. Police say the caller demanded money and if he didn't get it, a device would be activated. At the scene, police found several people locked inside of the bank, they were removed unharmed.
The second incident happened around 10: 55 a.m. at the Giant located in the 900 block of Bay Ridge Road. Police say the caller made the same demands. Store employees evacuated the building and no device was located, police said.
"I am happy no one was hurt and no devices were found," said Chief Michael Pristoop. "These threats were an interruption for our community and were a waste of our resources. We will thoroughly investigate these threats with our law enforcement partners."
Police also responded to a threat in Anne Arundel County on Saturday, when a similar call was made to the SunTrust bank located on Solomons Island Road.
