Police ID Suspects Arrested In High-Speed Police Pursuit, Kidnapping

BALTIMORE (WJZ) --Two men are behind bars after abducting a woman and then leading police on a high speed pursuit on Thursday evening.

On Friday, authorities identified the suspects as 36-year-old Robert Bethea and 37-year-old Kerry Bethea, who are facing multiple charges including assault and kidnapping.

WJZ Investigator Mike Hellgren has more on how the incident unfolded.

The police pursuit ended in dramatic fashion. Sky Eye Chopper 13 followed every mile of the pursuit that began when officers noticed a woman in the backseat of Bethea 's silver Chrysler 200 screaming for help.

Sandy Bowers watched as authorities rescued the victim and says she appeared to be shaken up from the incident.

The chase started at Ostend and Washington Boulevard, wound through rush hour traffic near BWI, and then ended up on Smallwood Street in Baltimore.

Moments before the crash Sky Eye Chopper 13 caught one of the suspects jumping out of the silver Chrysler.

WJZ has learned both men have a history of past charges, including traffic violations.

According to the Associated Press, police said at one point the car was traveling at more than 100 miles per hour on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.
