Police: Alcohol A Factor In Crash That Kills Woman In Md.
MIDDLETOWN, Md. (AP) -- One woman has died in a crash near Middletown, and alcohol was a factor in the collision.
Maryland State Police say pickup truck was heading west on Route 40A near Ridge Road in Middletown when the driver crossed into the eastbound lanes and struck a Toyota Corolla head-on. It happened Thursday evening.
Police say 59-year-old Deborah Kay Bell of Brunswick was a front passenger in the car and was severely injured. She was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore where she later died.
The driver of the car had non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the truck refused medical treatment.
Investigators say alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash, and charges are pending in the case.
