Man in custody following hours-long standoff, shelter-in-place at Baltimore apartment complex

BALTIMORE- A man is in custody following an hours-long standoff Sunday in South Baltimore.

Officers did not say what started a barricade or how it was resolved Sunday afternoon at the Arbuta Arms Apartment Complex in the 2500 block of West Patapsco Avenue.

Police and SWAT team members responded to the barricade. Those in the area were ordered to shelter in place and avoid the area.

"It was a major inconvenience because the traffic was going down that street instead of up here," resident Pablo Lema said. "They had both sides closed off too."

The lack of details about what happened worries neighbors because they say their community is usually quiet.

"For safety purposes, very nice, but when it does get dangerous, the danger level goes from like one to eight, sometimes 10," said Stephanie Guevara.

No more information was provided.
