'Plebes Summer' Officially Begins In Annapolis
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ)--For 1,200 young men and women summer as they know it, has officially come to an end.
It's Induction Day at the U.S. Naval Academy and for the class of 2019, Plebe summer has officially begun.

It's 6:00 a.m. when the bus pulls into in Annapolis.
"Woke up this morning thinking to myself what am I doing," said Paul McClanahan.
1,200 plebes and their parents arrive at the Naval Academy.
"I am really excited to get started, I wanted to do something bigger and different than a normal college experience and have an opportunity to serve my country," said Reagan Bearden.
Last minute pictures with parents before parents say their goodbye and Induction Day is underway.
After parents. The next to go-- is the hair.
"I think it's very becoming of an officer, very handsome. Top Gun for sure."
Then it's new socks, new shoes, new hats, measurements for uniforms and their very first lesson.
"The first and last word out of your mouth from now will either be sir or maam."
It's their first day of military service, 51 days of summer training
"I look forward to being able to mold these young men and women into leaders of the Navy and Marine Corp for tomorrow," said Lt Col. William Kohmuench.
And these plebes will be ready for their next 4 years as midshipmen
This class is made up of 27 percent women--the most in plebe class history.
