Multiple homes were evacuated as a precaution.
Crews are still on the scene and are still working to safely restore power and gas to more than 200 households.
A statement from BGE reads:
"BGE crews were performing work on a steel gas main when the fire began. One employee was taken to the hospital for medical treatment, and another employee was treated at the scene. BGE crews remain onsite assisting the fire department and ensuring the area is safe. In order to safely perform this work, gas service may be suspended to approximately 200 customers while the repair work is underway. The process of restoring gas service to these customers will begin once repairs are completed."
The critically injured worker remains hospitalized. No word on his condition.
