Pennsylvania Woman Dead After Car Crash In Maryland

THURMONT, Md. (AP) -- Officials in Maryland say a 77-year-old woman is dead after she drove into the path of a tractor trailer in Thurmont.

The Maryland State Police said Friday evening in a statement that troopers were called around 3:30 p.m. to northbound Route 15 at Roddy Creek Road. State Police say that an investigation revealed that a woman driving a Chevrolet Cobalt attempted to cross the northbound lanes of Route 15 and drove into the path of a tractor trailer.

State Police say the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. State Police identified her as Judith Wise of Blue Ridge Summit, Pennsylvania.

State Police says the driver of the tractor trailer was not injured in the crash.
